Oliver Lieb Presents Snakeman "Afrika"

Out Now on Yoshitoshi Recordings

Oliver Lieb's 'Afrika' finally sees the light, already making its rounds to djs galore. Oliver does what he does well on this 2x12”. Dark brooding beats, along with sinister sounds, and consistent drive carry this tune to dimensions. Remixes come courtesy of Behrouz, Saeed and Palash and Oliver himself.

'Saeed and Palash' do their tribal thing here, with minimal amounts of changes, and tons of deep drumming. Claps, and all sorts of toms, create depth, leaving no room for a melody. A vocal hit happens, every so often, pulling you into the groove.

'Behrouz' starts things off with some light tribal drumming, and some claps. A slow groove comes in with the vocal snip. Layers of sounds add depth to the song, as the low bass tickles, and brings you in further. A very light percussive tune.

'Oliver Lieb' lends his remix skills to his own song and gives it a techier feel than the original. If you know of his Black series, you can kind of imagine what it sounds like. Dark drum beats, layer with sinister back beats, that sound like machines. The vocal snip is used, and is found through out the entire song. A nice solid, stomper.

The 'Original Mix' starts out with electro sounds, and a very percussive intro. All the sounds are arpeggiateed, and filtered. The voice comes in, filtered, and trippy as the claps make their way in. Lots of tones, and signal sounds in the background. A very forceful song.

A good release for Yoshitoshi. A different sound for Oliver, but it works, and still has his main elements, of wicked hard drums, and machine like worlds.
