Origin "Refined Intricacy / Rage"

Out Now on Renaissance Recordings

Origin are Anthony Mein and Dave Wood, label bosses of Steel Yard Recordings, who previously had success with the track 'Wide Eyed Angel' on Lost Language, which broke them into the UK charts for the first time.

Refined Intricacy was from the same period, being featured on Dave Seaman's Buenos Aires Global Underground album, starting with an atmospheric looped vocal, a driving progressive beat leading us into percussive synths and snares. A perfect example of classic progressive trance thats been brought up-to-date by Trisco who keep things to a 'refined' pace, giving the track a rather chugging sound which is ok, but nothing really special.

Rage is a new production from the guys, a forceful progressive trance with heavenly vocal, utilsting a lot of the trademark production that was found in Wide Eyed Angel. Brancaccio and Aisher lay emphasis on the percussion, keeping the rest of the effects to a brooding minimum in the background, looping the bassline on itself to create a stutter effect, teasing the vocal but not really going anywhere.

Spread over two vinyls with the original mixes on one and the remixes on another, this is a somewhat disappointing release when compared to the likes of Science Dept's Breathe and Angel Moraes' Turn It Up, but hopefully this is just a small blip in Renaissance's otherwise strict quality control.
