Paul Rogers "Switch / Lazy Monday"

Out Now on Sumsonic Recordings

Paul Rogers is perhaps better known under some of the guises he works under, such as Fever, Substructure (with Chris Gainer) and Sleepfreaks (with Mark O Brien) but hes also a very talented DJ and solo producer and this double AA side is his first work in almost 2 years.

Switch is a track in the the time honoured tradition of Sumsonic. Deep, hypnotic bassline meets lush synths, eerie atmospheric effects introduce a minimalistic bassline, building and building, slowly filling the room and giving a rather large peak time feel. Massive.

However, the bside is truely amazing, perhaps the best solo production Paul Rogers has ever put his hand to. Entitled Lazy Monday, it starts off with a deep atmospheric intro that just glides back and forth gently as the main bassline slowly eases in behind, becoming more prominent as the track just rolls along, soft pads lifting the percussion and carrying it over the deep bassline that subtly oozes behind, then as the track heads into the break a whispery vocal bubbles to the surface and lush fils push the track along once more, slowly circling your subconcience and drawing you into the bassline. Sublime and beautiful and definately worth picking the single up for on its own

With Lazy Monday already featured on Kasey Taylor's Balance 002 compilation and the single being supported by Deep Dish and Paolo Mojo it seems that 2002 holds much promise for Paul Rogers and the Sumsonic imprint.
