Stephane K "Numb"

Out Now on SAW Recordings

Stephane K is on top form once again, with a sleek and scary solo outing. Deep tones and harsh metallic sounds, roll along an ambient soundscape with minimal drums. Meat Katie steps up to lend his take on 'Numb', and turns it into a sick and dirty, breakbeat house electro number.

'Meat Katie' mixes this song up so well, that he completely recreates the original. We start out with some nice punchy beats, breaky but still 4/4. A vocal sample comes in, along with some toms for added percussion. The funky electro bassline is sick and filthy. Electro zaps, and acid work their way in, as harsh and sharp tones, quicky pass over you. Some claps come in, and a nice 808 kick. As the acid hits again, we roll out of the tune. This is one of the dirtiest records I’ve heard in a long time, dark acid electro breakbeat house.

The 'Original Eclipse Mix' is incredibly dark, but so soothing with it's textures. An ambient intro slowly creeps into the song, and as sounds layer, a kick starts in. The metallic sounds are harsh and bit crunchy, and the song builds up. The drums are minimal, with just enough to fill the depth. Tones are very hidden in the background, but slight and pretty. This song is a minimalist dream, especially if you like it dark, deep, and eerie.

This is a class record. The original is dark and driving, and the Meat Katie remix turns Numb into a dirty electro number. You need to find this. Another great Saw Release.
