Tigerhook Corp "The West Philly EP"

The Tigerhook Corp consists of 8 members, the founders of the group, old high school buddies Hito and Randall Jones who together form the Disciples of Smoke. Other Tigerhook members include Deep C, Pat Parker, Hollis P. Monroe, Chris Udoh, Phil Charles, Barkn'Biter, Rockheads, Nexxxus and the list goes on. The Corp are basically an interchangeable group of producers that when put together in different combinations produce a wide array of different sounds.

The West Philly EP is their first release for Hooj, having had a number of releases on London's End Recordings previously. Here three of the members get together to deliver some lush, deep, tech house productions.

'The Show' which comes from Deep C & Randall Jones, is a deep and sublime cut of tech house which just trickles along as its percussion bubbles in and out of the dubby bass. Sheer bliss, and the b-side on this vinyl only release, The One is in a very similar vein, and both tracks have been championed by John Digweed, as well as Randall doing a guest mix on his KissFm show recently.

Rounding up this tight little EP we have 'When Androids Dream' by the Disciples Of Smoke, maintaining the percussion thats set by the other two tracks, adding horns and what sounds like sax samples over the eerie template the main beats glide over. An absolutely lush production that I have played over and over since receiving.

Compared to other Hooj releases of recent, this is a bit of a departure into different territories but props to Hooj for delivering a superb release that is aurally refreshing.
