Nigel Dawson "Whoop! Progressive Development"

Out Now on Whoop Records

Nigel Dawson, Renaissance DJ and producer as Dominion and also of half of Osiris with Andy Holt (Redanka), returns with the latest mix album from Whoop!, following on from their two previous mix albums, with a showcase of some of the finest tracks and mixes from the Whoop! catalogue since 1999.

Kicking off the cd is an exclusive remix of Tarrentella's Karma by bristol boys, Way Out West who rework it into a deeper, more atmospheric soundscape of ethnic sounds and effects, with superb melodic break to boot. From here we get dark and dirty with the filthy house beats of Amphbato by The Columbians, keeping the vibe through Hard Attack's Every Single Sound before unleashing Sasha favourite Talkin by Jimpy, carefully reworked by Tarrentella Vs Redanka.

Melody returns momentarily as Redanka's No Frills rolls through speakers, leading into a storming, inspired Tarrentella Vs Redanka mix of the epic Kundalini Rising by Kayomani. From here on we get down, dirty and funky as King Of Spin weave their magic on Skynet's Way Of The Wave, Mike Monday delivers a club monster with his disturbingly sinister rework of Motherlode's Sin-Nuh, which carries us through Spacepunks - Another Space into yet another classy Mike Monday rework, this time of Hard Attack's Very Contemporary.

All in all, a good selection of some of the finest tracks from the Whoop! stable in recent years, carefully mixed together with precision by Nigel. Whilst not trying to compete with the more upfront mixes out there, and instead being more of a retrospective, this may get overlooked, but if you want sometime to listen to as an alternative or just want to find out what the Whoop! label is all about, then you should check this album out.
