Out Now on Bedrock Records

2008 was a stellar year for Guy J. After his initial debut in 2006, the following two years brought appearances on a whole plethora of releases and remixes on many top British and European imprints. 2007 brought his debut EP on Bedrock and was the foundation of a relationship that saw further EPs appear throughout 2008, leading to the release of Guy's much anticipated artist album 'Esperanza'. Now as one year ends and another begins, Guy presents another EP of original material that have both been receiving great reactions on John Digweed's never ending globe trotting excursions.

'Fall Star' has a somewhat spacial, futuristic influence running throughout. Built around a deep snare lead, discombobulated into a void of 8 bit sounds, bass stabs and frantic synth arrangements, the track is an unrelenting piece of music that contrasts well to some of the current techno sounds that we hear.

'Lunar' by comparison draws from progressive and tech house roots. It's tight, percussive groove forms the backdrop to a sea of heavy, phat bass stabs and melodic keys, underpinned by layer upon layer of techy effects. The constant tempo soon dissipates as the track builds to a euphoric climax and it's all these elements coming together that has made the track one of the highlights of many of John Digweed's key DJ dates since early Autumn.

Guy J closes out the year in much the same way he began it, a producer who continues to rise and rise and seemingly the leader of a new blood of artists who look set to drive Bedrock into new directions through 2009 and beyond.
