Background / Notes:

Being the first progressive label to come out of Canada, Toronto based record shop/label Release Records is one the first shops of its kind in North America. Being based in a major cosmopolitan city that is influenced heavily by the house scene of Chicago, and New York’s tribal movement, Release have built upon this foundation by adding a strong European component to the shop and label. Within their first year, they opened their second shop in London, Ontario (midway point between Toronto and Detroit), and launched their self-titled label. With this new venture, they wanted the Release Records imprint to be a solid reflection of the shop and industry. Release Records has, and always will, keep their sights on the evolution of house music, and reflect this by showcasing the industry’s top producers of today, and the super-producers of tomorrow.
